2022 Federal Budget & It's Impact on the Funeral Profession

This report includes:
- Overview Government's key focuses for the 2022 Federal Budget
- Details on increased support for the ability to document, locate and memorialize burial sites at former residential schools
- How the budget proposes to phase out access to the small business tax more gradually, leading to a reduced 9% corporate tax rate on first $500,000 on taxable income.
Funeral Home Death Notification Procedure
APRIL 2022
Many funeral homes, after-care services, and/or family/estate representatives are sending mail reports of deaths to the Social Insurance Number (SIN) program at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
This step is unnecessary in most cases as the SIN program is automatically informed by the Vital Statistics Office of the province once a funeral home registers the death with the authorities.
